Unit Operation - Input & Output fields

We want to inform you of an important change that will impact the Unit Operation (UO) record in QbDVision as part of our continuous efforts to enhance user experience. Below are the key details of the transition and the benefits you can expect.

What’s changing?

  1. Removal ofInput” and “Output” fields:

  • The fields will be disabled, but viewable in the upcoming Opera release (scheduled December 15th, 2024). Then, the fields will be fully removed after our Punk release (scheduled April 20th, 2025).

  • The “Input” and “Output” columns will be removed from the UO import template.

Why?

In place of these fields, we introduced the new “Relationship to Process” widget (released in Nerdcore on July 28th, 2024). If you’re not familiar with the widget, it can be used to specify Input, Intermediate, and Output Materials. This widget effectively enables this information to be captured as a separate, more powerful, structured data object, instead of as free text in the UO record, which was a popular feature request, making data management more intuitive and efficient.

Key benefits

  • Structured data entry

  • Improved Process definition

  • Enhanced workflows

What action should you take?

This change will affect all QbDVision environments. You are not required to take immediate action. However, we encourage you to plan when to move existing data in the “Input” and “Output” fields to the “Relationship to Process” widget in the Material record or another field. By transitioning earlier, you’ll be able to take full advantage of the improved data entry process, preventing any disruption to your operations. We will send additional reminders before the fields are removed from view in 2025.

Timeline of changes:

  • December 15th, 2024: Input/Output fields will be disabled, but viewable.

  • After April 20th, 2025: Fields will be fully removed.

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we work to deliver better tools for your operations. If you have any questions or comments about these changes or would like assistance with the transition, feel free to reach out to our support team at support@qbdvision.com.

Best,

Your QbDVision Team
